Flint Community Schools, in partnership with Sodexo MAGIC, the district's nutrition provider, will host the 2015 Future Chefs Challenge at 4:00 p.m. on March 19, 2015 at Southwestern Classical Academy, 1420 W. 12th St.
During the competition, eight elementary students will go head to head in a live cooking challenge. The students submitted recipes for their favorite healthy snacks in January.
Holmes STEM Academy is proud to announce that three of the eight finalists are from our school. The are Javarion Donaldson (fourth grade), Nevoen Moore (fifth grade), and Amari Baker (fifth grade)
More than 200 school districts across the country are holding Future Chefs events throughout February and March. The winning student from each participating district will be considered for regional finalist awards, and the selected regional finalists will vie to become one of five national finalists competing for the public's vote on a special Future Chefs YouTube channel.
Criteria for judging will be based on originality, kid friendliness, ease of preparation, healthy attributes, plate presentation and taste.
Judging will begin at 4:30 p.m. and an awards ceremony will begin at 5:00 p.m.
